Questions

Charter, answered

Charters are launching soon. Here is how they will work; register your interest and we will confirm the details with you.

When can I charter?

We're preparing our charter program now. Register your interest and you'll be among the first we contact when bookings open, with first pick of dates.

How long can I charter for, and how is it priced?

Anything from a half day to a multi-day trip. The price depends on the vessel, how long you're out, the season and the date: holidays and big local events cost more than quieter weeks. Longer trips are priced per day from the boat's weekly rate. You'll get a written quote before anything is booked.

What's included in the charter price?

The boat, a licensed captain and crew, and the vessel's insurance. Running costs such as fuel, dockage away from the home marina, food and drink are usually extra, as are add-ons like a private chef or transportation. Your quote lists exactly what is and isn't included.

How do I book?

Charters are opening soon. Register your interest with the form above and we'll contact you as soon as bookings open, with vessel options and a written quote for your dates. Once you're ready, a signed charter agreement and a deposit secure the date, with the balance due before departure.

What is a provisioning allowance?

On longer charters, part of the cost is paid in advance to cover running expenses: fuel, food, drinks and dock fees. Your captain uses it to have the boat fuelled and stocked before you board and keeps a record of every expense. You can see the running total at any time. Anything left over is refunded, and if spending goes over, you top it up.

Can we choose the food and drinks?

Yes. Before the trip we'll ask about your party's tastes, dietary needs and any allergies. With a private chef on board, the menus are planned with you in advance, from a long lunch to every meal of a week away.

Are children welcome on board?

Usually, yes. A few vessels set a minimum age, and the crew can't provide childcare. Tell us the children's ages when you enquire so we suggest the right boat and have correctly sized life jackets aboard.

Can I smoke on board?

Not inside the boat, and never in cabins. Some vessels allow smoking in a designated outdoor area; ask us if it matters to you.

Should we tip the crew?

Tipping is up to you. If you've enjoyed the service, something in the region of 15 to 20 percent of the charter fee is common in the US. Handing it to the captain to share means everyone is recognised, including the crew you didn't see much of.

Is there tax on a charter?

Sales tax can apply depending on the state and where you board. It is shown on your quote, so there are no surprises.

Do I need insurance?

The vessel is insured. We recommend your own travel cover against cancellation, plus personal medical cover for everyone in your party.

Can we use water toys, fish or dive?

It depends on the boat. Many carry paddleboards, kayaks or snorkel gear. Jet skis and other powered toys follow state rules on age and boater education. Scuba is for certified divers only. If fishing is part of the plan, tell us and we'll confirm the gear and any licences needed.

Can the boat meet us somewhere else?

Yes. We handle transportation locally, nationwide or internationally. If your trip starts or ends away from the boat's home port, any delivery costs are quoted up front and written into your agreement.

What happens if the weather turns?

Your captain decides what is safe. If conditions aren't right, we'll work with you to change the route or move the date.
